I remember owning one of these as a child, I remember watching the commercial and asking my dad to buy it for me. The next day we went to Toys 'R' Us and he bought me the toy. If I remember correctly the top of his head opens up and there were a set of tools to turns the gears, also I believe the heart was the only thing that popped out. He also had voice and would do such voices I believe when you turned his gears.
I just bought my son this at a flea market. He absoutly loves it. And has been talking to him and carrying him around everwhere he goes. And he's only 4
I still have this guy, up in the attic with the Halloween decorations!! :D He's awesome. I don't think we still have EVERY last piece, or at least, he may not still speak anymore...I'll have to make a point of checking him out thoroughly this year, haha. I'm just glad to have him. And I shall always be able to hear his deep, resonant "Awwww, fix me!" as clearly in my head as though he'd been new yesterday... ^w^
The Blog of Frankenstein is your daily destination for vintage Frankenstein-related goodies, including posters, lobby cards, stills, toys, and other coolness! And yes, I know that Frankenstein was the doctor, and not the monster... but the term has become such common use thanks to toys and the like over the years that I don't have a problem sometimes using "Frankenstein" to refer to the monster.
I have been a Navy journalist, word processor, graphic designer, medical assisting student, cook, and truck driver, and am currently an eBay seller as well as an employee at a big retail store. I have been and always will be into comics, sf, tv, cartoons, monsters, oldies rock, and lots of other stuff.
